BUT THOSE WHO WAIT

PART 1

Sermon Notes

Isaiah 40:28-31… Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. 29) He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. 30) Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, 31) but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

1. THE UNPOPULAR CALL TO WAIT

Isaiah 40:31… (AMP) But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] will gain new strength and renew their power; they will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not grow tired.

2. THE LIMITLESS VALUE OF WAITING

Psalm 25:4-5… Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. 5) Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.

Psalm 130:5-6… I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. 6) My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning—yes, more than those who watch for the morning.

Psalm 27:13-14… I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14) Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!

Psalm 40:1-3… I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. 2) He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. 3) He has put a new song in my mouth—praise to our God; many will see it and fear and will trust in the Lord.

Jeremiah 12:5… “If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses?”

3. WHY WE CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO WAIT

Acts 1:4… And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5) for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
