Red Letter Edition - Jesus Satisfies

Sermon Notes

Psalm 107:9For He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Satisfies: (Hebrew) …to be sated (satisfied to the full) …to desire no more of something as a result of having consumed or done it to excess.

Mark 8:4-5… His disciples answered Him, “How can one satisfy these people with bread here in the wilderness?” 5) He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?”

John 4:7-14… A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” 8) For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. 9) Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. 10) Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

11) The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? 12) Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” 13) Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14) but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

John 7:37-39… On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38) He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39) But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

John 6:32-35… Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33) For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34) Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” 35) And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”

John 6:48-51… “I am the bread of life. 49) Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and are dead. 50) This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. 51) I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

Matthew 5:6… “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Mark 8:2-5… “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. 3) And if I send them away hungry to their own houses, they will faint on the way; for some of them have come from afar.” 4) Then His disciples answered Him, “How can one satisfy these people with bread here in the wilderness?” 5) He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?”
